Jeffrey Neal Sharpe, MD, FACS, received his undergraduate degree (magna cum laude) from Murray State University. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his training in General Surgery at the University of Louisville in the Department of Surgery. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery. Currently a Staff Surgeon at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, Shelbyville KY and Co-Medical Director and Staff Surgeon at Norton/Suburban Wound Treatment Center, Louisville KY.

In January 1999, Dr. Sharpe, President and CEO of SharpCare LLC designed a comprehensive wound care service, utilizing the skills of Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners to provide “hands on” care to residents in long term care facilities in the Louisville/Metro area with wounds and skin breakdown. Dr. Sharpe and SharpCare specialize in providing bedside wound assessment, treatment and management of acute and chronic wounds, surgical intervention, treatment of pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, ischemic ulcers, decubitus ulcers, post-op wound infections, diabetic foot ulcers, heel ulcers, skin tears and education to staff members of long term care facilities.

Dr. Sharpe’s current professional interest include presenting educational seminars to physicians, nursing home administrators and clinical staff around the country on MRSA, the five types of wounds, surgical intervention, and surgical management of complex lower extremity wounds.
